UMass Dartmouth CVPA Senior Show 2016 Wayfinding

Leading a four person wayfinding team for the 2016 CVPA senior show, we were tasked with the project to formulate a directory system to guide new visitors through the maze of UMass Dartmouth’s parking lots, and the CVPA building.  The complex architecture of the buildings within UMass Dartmouth makes directions particularly difficult.  Our goal was to successfully enable visitors to easily locate a particular student and gain knowledge as to their location using the same visual language as the CVPA Senior Show poster.

Together our team formulated a plan.  By using the original blueprints of the CVPA building as a foundation, I created a 3D map with colors indicating the different floors and locations of specific majors.  From there I tasked each team member with different responsibilities - creating the maze pattern, labeling the floors, and creating arrows for immediate direction - all using the color system to tie each piece together into a user friendly visual directory placed throughout the building.
